RRJ provides structural engineering, architectural, and building science services in specializing in the investigation and repair of existing structures; field and laboratory testing; and client services including dispute resolution, litigation support, document review and claims analysis.
 Design services undertaken by RRJ deal with modifications, defect correction, and upgrading of both structural and architectural elements. Additionally, RRJ is able to provide a full range of construction administration services. Design/renovation services apply to curtain walls, cladding, structural elements, window systems, and waterproofing and include preparation of repair drawings, specifications, and bid documents. Construction supervision can be provided to assure remedial work is properly executed.
 Investigative services performed by RRJ range from evaluating existing conditions and capacity to determining problem cause. Included within the investigative services offered are condition surveys, performance evaluations, structural adequacy, failure causation, evaluation of construction claims, and errors/omissions disputes.
RRJ’s experience includes performing exterior facade examinations on buildings within the City of Chicago which are required to fulfill the Exterior Wall Maintenance Program requisites. RRJ’s staff is trained to perform inspection work to identify deficiencies within the exterior building envelope and establish timelines for correction of those deficiencies to reduce the potential for problems which can affect the life/safety of the general public.
 Testing services conducted by RRJ in its own laboratory are diverse, varying from ASTM standard methods to specific, custom test methods including full-scale tests. Tests on structural and architectural components are performed in either RRJ’s laboratory or at the project site. RRJ tests have included ASTM standards, structural elements, construction products, and performance evaluations.
RRJ has provided technical assistance during the development of new products for a variety of manufacturers. The level of this assistance has included laboratory testing according to the client’s specifications, complete structural and architectural design of components, preparation of design guides, preparation of marketing materials, and authoring computer programs for engineered products. RRJ attributes the success of these projects to our interactive approach of combining the experience and expertise of designers, investigators, and testing specialists to provide complete solutions to client needs.
 A particular strong point, when construction problems exist and experts are required, is RRJ has the ability to provide assistance in establishing issues, identifying applicable standards and practices, briefing clients on technical issues, providing input for deposition, developing testimony outlines, performing the necessary technical research and preparing trial exhibits. Specialty services in this area include: constructability reviews, tolerance issues analysis, specifications and contract drawing review, determination of compliance with industry standards and codes, and sequence of events studies. RRJ has extensive state-of-the-art analysis and presentation capabilities including computer animations and model making which allow effective communication of technical findings.
